I’m focussing on interviews for Working Hours at the moment. If it seems like there’s nothing going online at certain times well, there is work going on IRL. I am working on transcripts, arranging more interviews and editing yet others. This project is gathering some momentum now and I want to keep that going. If you haven’t heard the show yet you can listen to it here.
The studio remains open for business. If you have any podcast support needs drop me a line.
Let’s see what I can do to help you make your podcast.

New episodes of Working Hours are coming. I will be dropping a few at a time again very soon. Unfortunately, a regular weekly schedule is just not possible for this show at the moment. I have neither the capacity nor the resources to deliver Working Hours that way – not yet.
Working Hours is now just 32 downloads away from hitting 500!
If you’d like to listen to this show’s current 22, free to listen to, long form interview podcasts then just click right here!
WHAT JOBS DO LOINERS DO IN 2021?
From theatre to tech-jobs to finance, find out what it’s like to work in Leeds and what work there is to be done in Leeds. Listen to Working Hours – a long form, free to listen to #podcast about a place called #Leeds, a time called now and an activity called work.
WHAT DO YOU DO?
Do you like work? Would you change your work? Is your work sustainable?
If you didn’t have to work would you do something different or would you not work at all?
If you know your answers to the above questions and you are from Leeds or in Leeds, then I want to hear about you. Get in touch with me to be a guest on this podcast.
If you want to appear on Working Hours you’ll just need a couple of hours free to record via zoom. I’ll tidy up the file and you’ll get to hear it back before it’s published, just so you’re totally happy with what you have said. Then you can show off to your friends, family, peers and work colleagues when your podcast episode is published and they can all say to you – you were on a what?
I really want to try to interview 25 more guests before Christmas.
So, if you’ve just got a Christmas Temp job tell me about it!
I do really want to try to bag these 25 guests though so if being on a podcast is not for you, but you know someone who would be great on the show let me know about them and what they do.
I especially want to speak to any Loiners from any under-represented communities and to anyone in roles or sectors that I haven’t covered yet.
I am always ready to hear any Loiners opinion on work so contact me now and let’s make your Working Hours episode!

Have a listen to me on this week’s Light on Leeds episode! I’m talking to the podcast about my own show Working Hours, you can listen to it here: https://www.lightonleeds.com/episodes/episode-37-simon-treen-working-hours-podcast
There’s not been an episode of Working Hours for a while but they are coming. I will be releasing four episodes next week. First, there will be two episodes released before Western Studios’ 1st anniversary on October, 5th. These episodes will cap off the interviews published within that 1st year of the Studio and gives us a very nice first 20! Following those two episodes, I will be kicking off the second year of Western Studios with 2 more Working Hours episodes being published together after or on the 5th.
There’s much to celebrate with these first 20 episodes; getting nearly 400 downloads, finding over 230 unique listeners and managing to get a pretty good diversity of roles amongst my guests too. It’s been largely luck more than intent in this first year though. I have covered start-ups, public sector roles, professions, artists, teachers, poets, healers and more in these interviews. There are so many more interesting stories and occupations to come yet though, and I’m really excited to hear them.
Remember, if you’re in Leeds or from Leeds you can be on Working Hours, click here to register to appear on the show – leave me a short bio and some ideas of when you can record! I especially want to hear from people on low or poor pay or from any under-represented Loiners. I’d also like to hear any recommendations for people you think should be on the podcast – do you have a local hero who does good work that you’d love to hear interviewed? Or a great employee or employer that you think should be recognised? Tell them to get in touch or let me know about them and I will try to get them on the podcast.
I can’t do this without you Leeds!

If, like me, you are a Leeds start-up company then you know that creating awareness of you and your business isn’t easy. Advertising is expensive, social media is time consuming and cold calling and mail outs take both time and money. The dream is an evergreen ad that creates awareness of your brand, that you pay for once and that won’t disappear after a short amount of time. That’s why advertising on a podcast, a format that can reach large audiences from one place, is so advantageous. Getting your business and product endorsed by a podcast host is an excellent way to raise awareness of your business and start bringing new people into your sales and marketing funnel.
Advertising on podcasts is a rapidly growing area for all digital marketing and the holy grail of podcast adverts is to have your ad copy in the podcast read by the host. A podcaster with a existing and growing audience has already developed some trust with their listeners and in-show reads are far more likely to be listened to.
My show Working Hours has recently passed 250 downloads and 150 unique listeners and it is continuing to grow at a steady pace, with every episode reaching more people than the last! That’s why I want to offer Leeds based start-ups the chance to advertise on my podcast at a introductory rate now. This show and its episodes are intended to be listened to on an evergreen basis so any ad reads in the episodes will continue to be heard by prospective clients well into the future. As awareness grows of the podcast and more people come to listen (and then begin to listen to previous episodes too) your ad read will still be there for them to hear and find out about you and your products.
Okay, so how much?
I’m offering an introductory rate to Leeds based start ups of £75 for in-episode ad reads*!
And if you book any one of these introductory £75 slots you will also be get 25% off your next podcast ad read! So your next ad will not only reach more people straight away it will also be cheaper!
This offer will run over the next episodes of Working Hours up until episode 40 and you can book slots in advance. To book a slot email firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject 75 or use the contact page on this website
*The read will be on one episode. If you would like to buy more than one slot or you would like to discuss the possibility of sponsorship please contact me to discuss. If you would like to create a podcast advert that can be used across a number of different podcasts please contact me to discuss.
Psst! Alternatively, you could guest on Working Hours for free and then have a whole episode to discuss your business!! To be on Working Hours email email@example.com or use the contact sheet to send me some details of your work and some suggestions about your availability.

Help me in my mission to find 1000 Loiners over this decade and ask them the 2nd question everybody asks me – what do you do?
Episode 13 was published on Monday and is already the most popular episode (so far). In this episode I speak to a Loiner based in Manchester and working as a freelance TV researcher.
Support this show:
For just a pound a month you’ll get exclusive bonus episodes and material as you help me to find new Loiners – more potential guests, listeners and subscribers. If you are from outside Leeds and you find the show interesting and would also like to hear more of it, then you too can support this show for £5 a month. (Consider it a tourist tax – it’s unfair but, you can also cheat it.)
The 2020s is a pivotal decade for our species and our home. So, I want to interview 1000 people from my home over this decade to record their thoughts and feelings around “WORK” and I want to show how their opinions change over this time; along with their ways of working and the sorts of work they are doing.
#tellmeaboutitleeds Leeds, what do you do? #bemyguestleeds Leeds, be on Working Hours #workinghoursleeds get in touch to be on the show #helpmyquestleeds support the shows historic civic mission.

Spring clean for websites in West Riding! It’s time to refresh this thing again! To redevelop. To regenerate. Hopefully for something much fresher better and bolder. I can’t give you a date for this yet but it’s in the works.
